This Sunday we will be doing group practice including the Prostrations to the 35 Confession Buddhas and recitation of a sub-set of chapters from the Golden Light Sutra.
The powerful purification practice of Prostrations to the 35 Confession Buddhas contains the elements of "the four opponent powers" and includes prostration, recitation and visualization. This practice is highly recommended by our teachers. For development along the path it's very important to "weed our garden" or purify the negative seeds on our mindstream.
Prostrations are a way of purifying the body, speech and mind. They also create the cause to achieve the holy body, speech, and mind of an enlightened being. This Practice of Prostrations to the Thirty-Five Confession Buddhas both purifies negative karma, while the actual, physical prostrations are primarily a way of accumulating merit.
This session is a great opportunity to learn through doing.
