Special Presentation with Jim Hagan

Jim Hagan is a long-time student of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Jim took refuge from Lama Yeshe in 1973 and attended the 5th, 9th and 10th Kopan Meditation course. Jim is a recently retired professor from Castleton University in Vermont and has taught courses on Buddhist philosophy and art for 20 years.

As part of a matching grant initiative restricted to help us pay off our mortgage, Jim has most kindly donated a very special collection of rare photographs from Buddhist sites across the world to support Kurukulla Center's fundraising efforts. After Geshe-la's Sunday morning class, Jim will share a live presentation that describes the rare collection, which includes photographs of sites that no longer exist and others that haven't allowed photos to be taken in a long time. These pictures will be available for auction, and all funds will support our matching grant fundraiser.

Jim Hagan is the co-founder of Wisdom Tours and leads cultural tours to India, Nepal, Bhutan, China, Tibet, Thailand and Cambodia. When he is not traveling, he is teaching at Castleton State College and Johnson State College of Vermont. Jim has lived, studied, and traveled in Asia for more than 25 years. He has lectured in Europe, Asia, and the U.S. on Buddhist art, culture, meditation, and philosophy. He lived in India and Nepal during the 70's and 80's where he studied Tibetan Buddhism at Kopan Monastery, Nepal, The Library of Tibetan Works & Archives in Dharamsala, India and Ganden Monastery, South India. Jim is an accomplished photographer who has exhibited his photos from decades of documenting Buddhist and Hindu art, architecture, and culture.
