VIRTUAL CHANTING: Tara Puja with umze Wendy Cook

Today we will perform the the very precious Cittamani Tara puja practice together over Zoom. The puja is chanted/recited mostly in English with some chanting in Tibetan.

It's not the same as performing the puja together in the gompa (shrine room) at the Center, which we used to do pre-covid. However, it is still a wonderful opportunity to do the entire practice together.

If you wish, you can make offerings in your own home on your altar before the start of the puja. You can make more elaborate offerings according to the puja ritual if you wish and know how. Otherwise keep it simple and make any offerings you wish, large or small. Offerings to Tara are substances that are pleasing to our senses and that we like; traditional offerings include flowers, incense, water bowl offerings, fruit, cookies, etc.

The main idea when we recite the puja is to meditate on the meaning. Tara is a buddha who is the embodiment of enlightened activity. As such, when we connect or pray to Tara, she is very quick to help us in our endeavors, especially our beneficial endeavors. She is also beseeched in times of obstacles when creating positive energy is crucial. At Kurukulla Center we offer Tara Puja on the 8th of the month according to the Tibetan lunar calendar.

The Tara puja is found in the Kurukulla Center Prayer book beginning on page 199.

We hope you can join us!!!
