At
Kurukulla Center we haven't yet set any "suggested donation"
amounts for the events as it depends on how much sponsorship is
received for Rinpoche's visit. In the past enough sponsors have come
forward to cover all associated costs. If we need to ask for a
suggested amount then, as always, we will endeavor to keep this
amount as low as possible. No one is ever turned away for lack of
funds. Stay tuned for an email about sponsorship opportunities.

Commentary
on the Praise
to Manjushri
From
10 am to 12:15 pm
Manjushri
is the embodiment of all of the Buddhas' wisdom and is identified
with the penetrating insight into the nature of reality and
interdependent origination. Reciting & contemplating this praise
and homage to Manjushri has great benefit to our study and practice
of the Dharma.
Monday,
July 28
Orange
Manjushri (Tib: Arapatsana)
From
7 to 9:15 pm
Manjushri
is the embodiment of all the Buddhas' wisdom and awakens within
us our inner wisdom. Meditation on Manjushri dispels
ignorance, not seeing the nature of reality, which is the root
of all suffering. Excellent for developing the mind of wisdom,
clarity and strength of mind, improved memory, and ability to
understand and explain Dharma to others.
Tuesday,
July 29
Avalokiteshvara
Singhanada (Tib: Senghe
Dra)
From
7 to 9:15 pm
Avalokiteshvara
Singhanada is the healing manifestation of the Buddha
of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara. Also known as Lion's Roar
Avalokiteshvara, this meditation practice can cure hidden
(or naga) diseases and purify damaged energy
due to negative karma and non-virtuous acts.

Prerequisites
for receiving empowerments
Both Orange
Manjushri and Avalokiteshvara Singhanada are from the Kriya Yoga
class of tantra. To receive this level of empowerment (Tib: jenang),
one should have taken refuge vows and be committed to the bodhisattva
ideal. Those who have not take refuge can take refuge for the
first time during the empowerment. The Bodhisattva vows are also
given during the ceremony. If one has taken them in the past then
receiving them again refreshes them; or one can take these lifetime
vows for the first time; or at minimum one should have the wish to
develop a good heart and be a kinder person. Therefore, beginners who
do not have refuge vows can also attend if they have a strong wish to
practice Buddhism or a serious dedication to the Buddhist path.
Guidelines
for day of empowerments
As
these are Kriya tantra empowerments, please abide by
the following on the day, until the empowerment is completed:
-
No food containing meat, fish, eggs, onion, garlic or radish
-
No sex, lying, harsh words, gossip, stealing
-
Please shower or bathe and brush teeth before arriving at center
