Venerable Amy: Life on the Path: Meditation Daylong on How Karma Works: How Did I Get Here and How Can I Better Direct Where I Am Going?
Saturday February 22nd 10:00am-4:00pm

Karma is a key concept in Buddhist philosophy that is often misunderstood. We often think of karma as, “What goes around comes around,” and feel bound by our karmic destiny. In actuality, the concept of karma allows for change and direct influence over the sort of life one desires to lead. Join this day of meditation to deepen your understanding of karma and how to skillfully design the future of your karmic path.

As His Holiness the Dalai Lama says, “We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.” Our Meditation Days are opportunities when we set aside time to practice and cultivate this inner peace. Please join us for a day of meditation and discussion to explore your own rich potential. We will observe silence for part of the day to deepen our inner awareness and provide a platform for our mindfulness.

A warm vegetarian lunch is included.

As always, the teachings are free, but we rely on your support and donations to keep the Center running.

Venerable Amy: Love, Attachment, and Getting Relationships Right
Sunday February 23rd 2:00-4:00pm

This teaching focuses on our experience of, and often confusion about "love" versus "attachment." Only when we apply antidotes to our attachment are we able to open to unconditional love, free of our ego's grasping and desire. If we are able to find ways to transform the "three poisons" (attachment, aversion, and ignorance) into more expansive states of mind, there is no doubt we can lend more meaning and happiness to all of our relationships.

Venerable Amy: How to Develop the Good Heart
Tuesday February 25th 7:00-9:00pm

Discover the unique meditation instructions that enable us to develop our innate qualities of loving kindness and compassion. Become skilled at applying these techniques to generate the mind of bodhichitta (the wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of others), known to be the heart of Mahayana Buddhism.

Venerable Amy: Conquering Anxiety and Depression (1/2)
Thursday February 27th 7:00-9:00pm

We all want happiness, but sometimes the stress of daily life or sinking in the mind overwhelms us as we fixate on some difficulty or problem. When our mind is feeling healthy and balanced, we are free from this fixation and able to devote energy to solving whatever challenges we face.

This program will explore fundamental Lojong (mind training) techniques and practical exercises that help us focus on transforming problems into the path of awakening – ideal instructions for those wishing to integrate spiritual practice into the hectic pace of life in the 21st century.

The Eight Verses of Mind Training by Geshe Langri Tangpa will also be presented along with instruction on tong-len (giving and taking) meditation.
