We are so fortunate that Dr. Nick Ribush has accepted our request to teach! He has chosen to teach on A Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment, by the great Indian pandit and yogi Atisha Dipamkara Shrijnana, starting on Sunday, July 11. Dr. Nick will base his commentary on a teaching on this text by Khunu Lama Rinpoche given to the monks and nuns of the International Mahayana Institute in Nepal in 1975 and translated by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Nick attended this teaching and edited it for publication. He will also refer to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s commentary, which is to be found in Illuminating the Path to Enlightenment.and Geshe Sonam Rinchen's commentary Atisha's Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment.

Composed in the 11th century, Atisha’s celebrated text is a concise summary of all 84,000 teachings of the Buddha and is the forerunner of the lamrim, or stages of the path to enlightenment, texts that followed. Khunu Lama Rinpoche’s and His Holiness’s commentaries really bring this ancient work to life and make it relevant to the practitioners of today.
Dr. Nicholas Ribush, MB, BS, is a graduate of Melbourne University Medical School (1964) who first encountered Buddhism at Kopan Monastery, Nepal, in 1972. Since then he has been a student of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche and a full time worker for their international organization, the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT). Dr. Nick is the Founding Director of Kurukulla Center and current Director of the Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive.
