"Shantideva’s Bodhisattvacharyavatara (A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life) holds a unique place in the Mahayana Buddhism, akin to that of the Dhammapada in Hinayana Buddhism and the Bhagavad-Gita in Hinduism. In combining those rare qualities of scholastic precision, spiritual depth and poetical beauty, its appeal extends to a wide audience of Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. Composed in India during the 8th century of the Christian era, it has since been an inspiration to millions of people throughout the world."
— from the 1998 edition of A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life published by the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, translated by Stephen Batchelor.
In Chapter Six, Shantideva focuses on patience, the third of the six perfections of a bodhisattva, its benefits, and how we can begin to cultivate it within our own minds.
As we remain at a lower level of COVID restrictions, there is no need to register to attend the class at Kurukulla Center. Participation is possible either in person or online.
Patience: A Guide to Shantideva's Sixth Chapter by Lama Zopa Rinpoche has recently been published by Wisdom Publications.
