Cittamani Tara Puja for the Swift Return of Lama Zopa RInpoche

We do not have special COVID restrictions at this time. Participation is possible either in person or online. To participate via Zoom (see below).

Today, on the eighth day in the Tibetan lunar calendar, an especially auspicious day, we hold a Cittamani Tara puja for the swift return of Lama Zopa Rinpoche. The puja is chanted/recited mostly in English with some chanting in Tibetan.

If you are attending the puja in person, please bring an offering for the altar. If you are participating via Zoom, you can make offerings in your own home on your altar before the start of the puja. You can make more elaborate offerings according to the puja ritual if you wish and know how. Otherwise keep it simple and make any offerings you wish, large or small. Offerings to Tara are substances that are pleasing to our senses and that we like; traditional offerings include flowers, incense, water bowl offerings, fruit, cookies, etc.

The main idea when we recite the puja is to meditate on the meaning. Tara is a buddha who is the embodiment of enlightened activity. As such, when we connect or pray to Tara, she is very quick to help us in our endeavors, especially our beneficial endeavors. She is also beseeched in times of obstacles when creating positive energy is crucial. At this particular time, we keep in mind our fervent wish that Rinpoche be reborn as quickly as possible in a place where he can be very quickly recognized and be of most benefit to sentient beings.

The Tara puja is found in the Kurukulla Center Prayer book beginning on page 199.

We hope you can join us either onsite or virtually.
