Today Geshe Tenley will guide us in a one-day meditation and mantra recitation retreat using the text The Inseparability of the Spiritual Master and Avalokiteshvara composed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the request of his students when he was very young. During this day of practice, Geshe-la encourages us to particularly remember the kindness of our parents, not just our own but of all parents everywhere. Reflecting on their selfless concern for our happiness and welfare, can lead us to develop affection toward all sentient beings. This practice also creates the causes for His Holiness’ long life and for peace on earth, while opening our hearts to compassion.
The one day retreat is open to all. One does not need to have received any particular initiations to participate. The emphasis will be on the recitation of the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra. It is advised that you attend as many sessions of the retreat as possible. However, you are welcome to attend only those sessions your schedule allows.
