Today is the first day of the Tibetan New Year or Losar, represented as the Year of the Fire Horse, 2153. For members of the Tibetan community, it is a joyous time to gather with friends and relatives at Kurukulla Center. Offerings are brought for the altar and prayers are recited.
For the FPMT family, Losar is a special time, as it commemorates the anniversary of FPMT founder Lama Yeshe's parinirvana at dawn of Losar in 1984.
