Geshela has kindly offered to lead us in a 30 minute long virtual Lama Tsongkhapa meditation-recitation group session. We will primarily be focusing on reciting the Praise and Request to Lama Tsongkhapa (Migtsema):
MIG ME TSE WÄI TER CHHEN CHÄN RÄ ZIG
DRI ME KHYEN PÄI WANG PO JAM PÄL YANG
[DÜ PUNG MA LÜ JOM DZE SANG WÄI DAG]
GANG CHÄN KHÄ PÄI TSUG GYÄN TSONG KHA PA
LOB ZANG DRAG PÄI ZHAB LA SÖL WA DEB
Today is the 10th day in the Tibetan calendar when we would normally gather in the gompa to practice the Lama Chopa (Guru Puja), including the special tsok offering. Given that pujas cannot be practiced virtually Geshela will guide us in a Lama Tsongkhapa group practice instead. It is a silver lining that during these stay-at-home days we can continue to do group practice via technology.
For those people with the commitment to offer tsok, Geshe-la has given advice how to perform Guru Puja at home:
- If possible, recite the whole Guru Puja practice as usual, especially the English Lamrim part, and meditate on its meaning as you recite it. Also, during Thursday's Virtual Community Meeting Venerable Ani Yeshe suggested that students could use the opportunity to read the Guru Puja in English to gain a deeper understanding of its meaning.
- For the puja altar, if students don't know how to do the setup or don't have the materials to set up the full altar, that's okay. Good motivation and a simple offering of water, flower, incense, and/or candle are sufficient.
- Students who have Tsog commitment should do, as usual.
If you need a copy of the Lama Chöpa (Guru Puja) text, you can download a PDF copy of the 2013 edition from the FPMT store (by suggested donation). There are other editions available, too.
