Vajrasattva Jenang with His Eminence Ling Rinpoche

Sometimes our Dharma practice doesn't seem to bring good results. This is because our negative karma is creating obstacles. Therefore, we need to engage in purification, an essential practice on the path to enlightenment. To help us remove the blocks to a beneficial spiritual practice, this morning His Eminence will confer a Vajrasattva jenang, a ceremony that allows the disciple to recite a mantra and practice a sadhana, but is not considered a full initiation.

Vajrasattva is a powerful tantric purification practice where we loosen, uproot, and purify our negative habits and karmic imprints, thus allowing more space for our enlightened qualities of love, wisdom, compassion, strength and so forth, to grow. Vajrasattva Buddha is the manifestation of the complete purity of the enlightened state. Out of their great compassion and limitless love, the buddhas and bodhisattvas have manifested their collected purity in Vajrasattva so that we can identify ourselves with his qualities.

Having received the Vajrasattva jenang, we can undertake the Vajrasattva practice of purification that helps to not only purify negative karma of this life but past lives as well, purify any broken vows, clear obstacles and illness, as well as purify any mistakes we have committed against the Three Jewels. Therefore, the practice of purification is extremely important for our everyday lives.

You may attend with the intention to receive the jenang, in which case during the proceedings you will receive the bodhisattva vows, which are taken for life. You can read about the bodhisattva vows here. You are also welcome to attend the jenang as a blessing and receive positive imprints. With this intention you do not receive the bodhisattva vows, nor have a daily commitment if one is given.

Please note that when you receive an initiation from a lama, you enter into a relationship where they become your vajra teacher. We are incredibly fortunate that His Eminence Kyabje Ling Rinpoche is a fully qualified master whom Geshe Tenley has great devotion and respect. Geshe Tenley has requested His Eminence Ling Rinpoche to visit Kurukulla Center for our benefit.

Please avoid eating black food (meat, fish, eggs, onion, garlic and radishes) before the initiation.

Information regarding any commitments will be provided closer to the event.

This is the text you will need for Vajrasattva Mantras and taking the Bodhisattva Vows.

Donations are not required but encouraged in order to cover the considerable expenses associated with this event in order to host a visiting teacher. Such expenses include food, amenities, transportation, offerings, cleaning, etc. We appreciate your support!

Donations for Rinpoche's visit can be made here.
